Cistercian Spirituality

Cistercian spirituality places the search for God at the center of life. The monk learns to listen to the Word, cherish silence and allow the whole day to become prayer. Prayer: The community gathers throughout the day for the Liturgy of the Hours and Mass. Sacred Scripture and lectio divina nourish interior life. Work: Manual work and community responsibilities are carried out with simplicity, responsibility and a prayerful spirit. Communion: Common life teaches each member to love, serve, forgive and seek God together.
